Original Pentecostals of Parkersburg

This picture borrowed from Sharon Ruble Jenkins' Facebook page, shows the original Parkersburg Pentecostal families--Ruble, Dallas, Johnson, Hughes, and Dayhoff.  I've always been intrigued with local church history.

Here's the church we attended when I was a toddler. I can remember climbing the stairs.

Horseback Riding

Can you believe I get paid for doing this? As Youth Activities Director at a local church, I enjoy all the benefits of the activities I design for the kids, from canoeing to skiing. Of course, sometimes it's the breaks, too, like when I fell and sprained my wrist rollerskating last winter.

Here's one of the youngsters who attends our church occasionally, with her grandmother Kay, who attends regularly. Isn't she just a doll-baby?

Church Ladies

Here are some pictures of the ladies in our church from Homecoming 2006. Maxine used to preach, I believe. She still gives a rousing testimony, standing on one wooden leg.



















This is Ruth. She sings loud, and often leads congregational numbers. Pastor Troy is helping her on the guitar.

Senior Church Memebers

I thought I would post some pictures of some of the senior ladies in our church. They are such interesting people. I hope they don't mind.

Here's a picture of the Cutler Community Quilt Show. The ladies look like they're buried in their beautiful quilts. Hats off to my cousin Jody who's been quilting like a bee.

Mission

Mission
This is where we attend church--or rather the building where the church we are a part of meets regularly. It is a wonderful racially mixed church where everyone is accepted for just who they are, dirty tennis shoes and all. I will try to post profiles of the church members so you can meet them. My husband, Virgil, and son, Josiah, and I help with worship service. It is so fulfilling to minister in song to such a receptive congregation.
